S35VN - powder steel

CPM S35VN steel is one of the most advanced powder metallurgy steels available. It was developed in the USA using powder metallurgy technology (CPM – Crucible Particle Metallurgy), which ensures an exceptionally fine and uniform material structure. The result is an excellent combination of hardness, toughness, and long edge retention.

S35VN contains a balanced amount of carbon, chromium, vanadium, and niobium. This gives it high wear resistance, a stable cutting edge, and better toughness than older generations of powder metallurgy steels. Hardness is typically around 59–61 HRC, depending on heat treatment.

Compared to conventional stainless steels, it holds its edge significantly longer and provides a clean, precise cut even under demanding use. At the same time, it retains good corrosion resistance, making it a practical choice for kitchen environments.
