Maldon Smoked Sea Salt Flakes

The most common use is on the finished dish, as it effectively and irresistibly decorates it. This exceptional salt is produced by the Maldon Sea Salt Company in England using a classic method proven over generations, since 1882.

The town of Maldon in Essex has been the heart of sea salt production since the Middle Ages, according to legend even in the time of ancient Rome. No wonder – the location washed by the tide has a favourable climate with low rainfall, which guarantees optimum water salinity. Together with hand production chiselled over the centuries, Maldon salt has a truly unmistakable structure and taste.

The Maldon brand has attracted attention from the very beginning. Within a few years of its creation, it was included in the offer of the famous Harrods department store in London. In the middle of the last century, it was exported to Sweden, a country of salt connoisseurs; in 2000, it was recommended by Delia Smith, the first famous chef, in her book, causing a total sell-out. The salt has become very popular all over the world, helped by the fact that it is also used by other famous culinary magicians Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay or Nigella Lawson. Official recognition was given to Maldon salt in 2012, when it became the official sea salt supplier to the British royal family.
